Confidence Recovery is a workshop designed to help riders rebuild trust, release fear, and reconnect with both themselves and their horses after a fall.

Who Can Benefit? Anyone who has:

  • Stopped progressing in their riding after a fall

  • Found themselves avoiding riding, lessons, or competitions

  • Lost the bond or “magic” they once had with horses

  • Felt fear, tension, or anxiety at the barn or in the saddle

  • Noticed regression in their horse’s training or confidence

  • Experienced pain, imbalance, or exhaustion connected to riding

What You'll Experience:

With lessons learned from Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Trauma-Informed Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (TI-EAP), facilitators Debbie Blackmon, MA, LPA-IP and Reccia Jobe will guide you in:

  • Releasing bracing and tension patterns in your body

  • Listening to what your horse communicates about safety and partnership

  • Rebuilding trust and connection with your horse

  • Practicing safe, supported “do-overs” to create new, positive experiences

  • Restoring balance and confidence in your nervous system

  • Exercises you can continue to practice on your own or with your horse

Meet the Facilitators

Debbie Blackmon, MA, LPA-I, SEP

Debbie is a Licensed Psychological Associate with Independent Practice, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and EMDR practitioner. She has additional training in Internal Family Systems (Level 2), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy-Trauma Themes, and is certified by The Natural Lifemanship Institute as both clinician and Equine Professional, specializing in trauma-focused equine-assisted psychotherapy. A lifelong amateur rider, Debbie has experience in hunters, eventing, and dressage, and currently works with Hoffman, a highly relational and opinionated Trakehner.

Reccia Jobe, TI-EAP, EP

Reccia has a lifelong experience with horses in mostly western riding and ranching. She has combined her equine experience with a strong drive and desire to help people live more meaningful and fulfilling lives. She is an equine professional specializing in Trauma-Informed Equine Assisted Services certified through The Natural Lifemanship Institute. She has been helping people transform their relationships with horses, themselves, others, and the world around them since 2007 through individual therapy and learning sessions, workshops, and courses. She is a blog contributor and trainer for The Natural Lifemanship Institute and contributing author for equine assisted services industry publications. Reccia is the CEO and co-founder of Pecan Creek Ranch where she cares for and trains nine horses and one adorable orphaned goat.

Sierra Kahler

Sierra Kahler is a lifelong horseman with a deep love for helping people learn how to face the inevitable challenges in life by becoming more connected to themselves and others through the work of trauma focused psychotherapy. She is trained as an Equine Professional through The Natural Lifemanship Institute and has experience working with a wide variety of horses and people. Along with her work as an EP, Sierra is also a USDF Bronze and Silver medalist and is the assistant trainer at a local dressage barn. In her down time she enjoys spending time with her two Trakehners and BLM Mustang.

  • ONLY open for boarders, students, or horse lessors/owners at Scattered Oaks Farm

  • Participation with a group no more than 9 people

  • Individual and team experiences

  • On ground exercises with participants and horses

  • Experiences with horses, mostly on ground with a possibility for exploring mounting (being able to mount our ride is not a requirement for this workshop)

  • Specific guidance and attention from instructors
